Race On!

The Alray Tire Center of Boone Crit Series will still continue as planned.

The cancelling of the motorsports events at the Speedway will not affect us at least through June 15.

I will post more info as it becomes available

Race on

Looking at the radar, and the forecasts, it looks like the nasty stuff will stay in Tennessee. Obviously, if lightning and hail break out, we will postpone, but I’m headed to track and am putting on a bike race.

Weather update

FINAL CALL AT 4PM

We run rain or shine, but not if its dangerous. We are still on with only 60% chance of thunderstorms. I’ll check the radar and make the final call will be at 3:00PM 4:00PM. If I postpone, all the series get pushed back a week (currently July 27 is open).

Jerseys on the line

Weather ended up being lovely, albeit breezy last night. Got the results and season standings fixed, and everything should be all good. Don’t forget to sign up for Boone-Roubaix this Saturday. Online registration closes at noon on Friday

HTFU

Just because its raining at your office doesn’t mean we ain’t racing. The Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway is incredibly grippy, drains fast, there is covered parking, and you can warm up on the road under the stands. Be there, or be taunted.

Week Two results and standings

Thanks for another great crowd last night for making for a great time. Even I had a good night – must have been the smoothie I picked up at Talia Espresso before the race.

Results are posted and Series One standings are updated.

With two of four races in the books, this is a Boone party on the mens’ side: App State racers Justin Evans (Hawley’s Bicycle World Racing Team) and Shawn Lautner are winning the Blood Sweat Gears Cycle and Skate Men 3/4 and James E Good CPA Men 4/5 races, and Mountain Times publisher Gene Fowler Jr (Hilton Head Cycling) is winning the Open race. On the women’s side the Painpathways Women’s Cycling Team are dominating: Robin Nance leads the Women 3/4s and Marianne Holt is on top of the Women Pro/1/2/3s. Only two races to go until we award the first of the Capo Leaders’ Jerseys.

One down, 19 to go

Our first race of 2011 was our biggest ever! 82 racers toed the line, successfully dodged a street cleaner and roving golf carts, and had a blast doing it. Results and season standings are posted. From about 10th to 25th in the James E Good CPA Race is pure guesswork because there was not enough light for the camera, so please check and let me know if you need any changes.

RACE DAY!!!

Tonight. Come race bikes. It’s gonna be awesome. Want to make it more awesome?

Go to http://www.usacycling.org/forms/rider_release.pdf, print and fill out the form (legibly – I like using PDFEscape). Note that “911″ is not an emergency contact. Please leave extra time to register this week. Checks are payable to “Pirate Race Productions” Cash, as my accountant James Good likes to remind me, is king.

Directions are here and the schedule is here. You might want to swing by Talia Espresso in North Wilkesboro to grab something to eat on your way in, as there will not be a food vendor on site.

Don’t forget: go fast, turn left, go fast.

See you at the track,

stack
